Our Lakewood Ranch office opened on October 6, 2025, in Suite B101 at 8120 Lakewood Main Street. A couple of weeks later the Observer ran a story about the opening, which is a slightly strange thing to read about your own front desk.
If you found us through that article, welcome. This is the longer version, including the parts that don’t fit in a news brief.
How the Lakewood Ranch Office Came About
Circle Chiropractic started in Sarasota, and for a long time Southgate was the whole practice. Dr. Ben Duke bought it about three years before the Lakewood Ranch office opened, and much of that stretch went into the things nobody writes articles about, mostly hiring and training.
Main Street was the right second address for reasons that are boring and practical. It is close to where a lot of our Sarasota patients already work, it is walkable, and the suite was the right size for the equipment we wanted in it rather than the equipment we could squeeze in.
Dr. Greg Hengel Came Up from Port Charlotte
The clinic director in Lakewood Ranch is Dr. Greg Hengel, and getting him is the part that made the rest of it work. He ran his own practice in Port Charlotte for 21 years before joining us. Two decades in one town is the kind of tenure that says more than a credential list does.
He has worked with NFL, MLB, and PGA athletes, and with Ironman triathletes, and he will talk your ear off about biomechanics if you let him. What tends to matter more to our patients is that he explains things the same way to a retired golfer as he does to a pro. You get the actual answer: what seems to be going on, what it takes to address it, and how we will know whether it’s working.
You can read about him and the rest of the doctors on our team page.
What We Actually Do Here
The Observer piece listed our services, and the list is accurate, but a list doesn’t tell you much about what a visit looks like. Here is what is in the Lakewood Ranch office:

- Chiropractic adjustments, which is the core of it
- Spinal decompression for disc-related problems, on a table that does the traction work gradually rather than all at once
- SoftWave tissue regeneration therapy, which uses acoustic waves and takes about as long as a coffee break
- Stretching, exercise, and nutrition guidance, because the twenty three hours you spend outside this office matter more than the one you spend in it
- Massage therapy
What brings people in is fairly predictable: headaches and migraines, neck and back pain, injuries after a car accident, sciatica and pinched nerves, pregnancy discomfort, and the shoulder and jaw tension that shows up after a stressful few months. Not everyone needs everything on that list. Part of the first visit is working out which of it applies to you, and saying so plainly when the answer is “not much.”
The Part About the Body Healing Itself
Dr. Duke told the Observer: “Our philosophy is we want to empower people to understand that the body was designed to heal.” That reads like a slogan on paper. In the office it is more practical than it sounds.
It mostly means we would rather explain the mechanism than hand you a plan you don’t understand. When the nervous system is communicating well with the rest of the body, people often do better with the ordinary business of recovering. So we spend time on what the exam found, why a particular joint is cranky, and what you can do at home between visits. Some patients want the full anatomy lecture. Some want the two sentence version. Both are fine.
Who You Will Actually Meet
A chiropractic office is not just the doctor, and the Observer got this right by naming the people who run the place. Zoe Young handles marketing and Alex Scholz runs operations, which in a practice this size means they are the reason your appointment reminder arrives and your paperwork is ready when you walk in.
The rest of the front desk and therapy staff you will meet on your first visit. We put them on the team page with their names and photos, partly so you know who you are talking to on the phone. If you have been to a clinic where the person checking you in changes every visit, you already know why that matters. Most of our patients see the same handful of faces every time, and after a few months those people know your name and your knee.
Since the Opening: A Third Circle in Wellen Park
Lakewood Ranch was our second office. We have since added a third in Wellen Park, at 19740 S West Villages Pkwy, Suite 102 in Venice, so patients heading south now have something closer than Southgate.
All three offices offer the same care. If your schedule works better near one and your doctor sits at another, we can usually sort that out. The addresses and hours for all three clinics are on one page.
The seals on the wall came from readers and neighbors voting rather than from us: Best of SRQ Gold and Platinum from SRQ Magazine, plus a Community’s Choice finalist spot for Sarasota. We are past 500 five-star reviews across Lakewood Ranch and Sarasota, which we mention mainly because patients tell us it is the thing they checked before booking.

Do I need a referral to come in?
No. You can book online or call the office directly. If you were in a car accident or are already working with another provider, bring whatever imaging or notes you have and we will look at them during the exam.
What happens at a first visit?
A conversation about what brought you in, an exam, and a plain-English review of what we found. Digital X-rays are taken only when they are clinically necessary. Plan on about 30 minutes, or closer to an hour if spinal decompression is involved.
Is the Lakewood Ranch office the same practice as the Sarasota one?
Yes. Circle Chiropractic runs three offices: Sarasota at Southgate, Lakewood Ranch on Main Street, and Wellen Park in Venice. Same practice and same approach at each one.
