Sarasota Chiropractor | Dr. Carly Cunningham

“I have a strong passion and desire for chiropractic care. I’m blessed to have found a profession that continues to motivate me and give my life purpose. I know that my love for helping people will assist in prevention of disease and promote a healthy wellness approach to health care.”

Dr. Carly Cunningham’s interest in restoring health began from a young age. From 8 to 18, Dr. Carly was involved in competitive gymnastics, sustaining numerous injuries along the way. “I was constantly trying to overcome injuries, most of which never healed.” Throughout her gymnastics career, Dr. Carly couldn’t understand why she could not find a treatment that truly helped her.

A Chiropractic Education

After receiving her bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Kent State University, Dr. Cunningham put her passion for running, lifting, and desire to understand human physiology to the test. As she graduated and worked for a gym as a personal trainer/ fitness coach she knew she wanted to make a difference in people’s lives. She became fascinated with chiropractic and holistic healing, which changed her outlook on health and healing. Understanding the body’s mechanics and joint mobilization helped her not to just become a better runner, but a better doctor. She now realizes the importance of chiropractic care for injury prevention.

Dr. Carly is a firm believer of getting treated regularly because it gives high performance athletes an extra edge so they can perform at optimal levels. Dr. Carly emphasizes a healthy lifestyle and the importance of exercise and nutrition. She went on to compete in 5 marathons, 5 half marathons, and multiple 5k’s per year, which has helped in her understanding of the importance of treatment and underlying biomechanics of running. As Dr. Cunningham is a born and raised Pittsburgh native, she has a true love for sports and values the importance of injury prevention.

Dr. Carly went on to receive her doctorate in Chiropractic at Palmer Florida – but she believes that learning never really stops. She realizes the importance of continuing education and staying current with new technology and advanced techniques. Dr. Carly has been practicing in Pittsburgh for the past 9 years, and in that time had the opportunity to work with professional athletes such as NFL players, UFC fighters, NHL hockey players, bodybuilding NPC, and ballet dancers. Dr. Carly’s interests include weightlifting, running, and nutrition.

On a Personal Note…

Dr. Cunningham and her dog Abu are excited to be taking on life in Lakewood Ranch, Florida, after living in Pittsburg for the last 9 years! She loves spending time with her family in the area, working out, and staying active in her time away from the office.
