Massage Therapy
Massage and Chiropractic
Both chiropractic and massage therapy are considered to be holistic treatment modalities because they share a common goal of treating the body as a whole, helping you to achieve the state of well-being without drugs or surgery. Both focus on trying to resolve the underlying cause of your pain or discomfort rather than treating isolated symptoms.
When they are used in combination, a synergy occurs that is often far more effective than either approach on its own. The benefits of chiropractic care are well-known, and many people are aware of the relaxing effects of massage therapy, but did you know that getting both regular massages and routine chiropractic adjustments can enhance your overall wellness?
Your muscles function through coordinated movements and timing because of messages they receive from your nervous system via your spinal cord. By reducing inflammation and restriction in both your muscles and nervous system, you are allowing optimal function and communication throughout the body. Chiropractors and massage therapists often collaborate to find the proper combination of chiropractic adjustment and massage to get you back to a state of health and well-being as quickly as possible. Most patients that receive a massage prior to an adjustment experience a decrease in muscle tension, an increase in flexibility, and longer sustained benefits from the adjustment. That’s why regular massage therapy and routine chiropractic care make up the perfect combination for wellness.
Neuromuscular Massage
Neuromuscular massage therapy (NMT) is a deep tissue massage focusing on points of spasm in muscles causing deep pain that may also refer to other areas of the body. This therapy normalizes and harmonizes two very important body systems: the nervous system and the musculoskeletal system. It works toward a reversal of the stress-tension-pain cycle and the dissolving of long-term pain patterns. NMT enhances the function of joints, muscles, and biomechanics (movement), and releases endorphins – the body’s own natural pain killer. Neuromuscular massage is an excellent treatment for the reduction of chronic complaints and other painful conditions. NMT is a precise soft-tissue therapy that seeks to release hypercontraction and spasms in the soft-tissue, eliminate trigger points that can cause pain, and promote the restoration of postural alignment and flexibility.
Medicupping Therapy
Medicupping therapy utilizes glass or plastic cups and a vacuum machine to create suction on the body surface. These cups are moved over the skin to facilitate joint mobilization or soft tissue release. This suction reaches deep into the soft tissue, attachments, and other organs, and also elicits a sedating effect on the nervous system. This technique produces a “separation” of tissue layers, enabling water absorption and renewed blood flow to reach undernourished and dehydrated tissue. Medicupping is a pleasant, gentle, and non-invasive technique that achieves powerful results.
Swedish Massage
Swedish massage is a therapy utilizing long strokes, kneading, and friction techniques on the muscles which is helpful for poor circulation, stress management, and toxicity. Some of its healing benefits include relaxation, stress reduction, improved circulation, and healthier skin.
Aromatherapy Massage
Aromatherapy massage is beneficial on its own; however, when used in conjunction with essential oils, treatment becomes more therapeutic, promoting relaxation, balance, and improving lymphatic flow. Essential oils are effective for relaxation, emotional balance, relief of aches and pains, as well as many other common concerns.
